Google’s AdSense program is known to be a trusted source of monetization for many publishers. Google has gained tremendous popularity because of its AdSense program, which is the only source of income for many operators on the Internet. Now, it has been noticed that Google is basically serving large operators and it is not able to provide proper customer service to middle and small level publishers and online businesses. So Lijit Networks is trying to come up with a product that would directly compete with Google AdSense, but they would primarily focus on the niche market and that is mid-level publishers.

Lijit Networks was basically into analytics tools for publishers; however they saw a tremendous growth in their advertising revenues in 2010. Now they are busy financing their most ambitious project till date and it is to develop a platform competing directly with Google AdSense. Todd Vernon, the CEO and founder of Lijit, explained the reasons behind his decision and opportunities lying ahead for such kind of platform. He said that Google is performing poorly on the customer service front. Many a time you can never get a human to talk to, because they are busy handling a large global market. It ends up in frustration for mid-sized users.

So Lijit basically is capitalizing on the vulnerability of Google in the mid-sized publisher’s niche. They are promising of a great customer service as their USP and more and more relationship-building with publishers.

Seems to be a first of its kind of serious competition for Google!
