Health and legal issues unattended to, SEO content still reigns supreme
After Panda underwent a whole new drive for restricting its search algorithms, Google followed suit and immediately addressed a few issues, which were responsible for poor quality of results. But still the issue of content related to health and legal issues is unattended to. The reason behind this is some unscrupulous companies and freelance writers are busy uploading the content wholly with SEO purposes in mind. This means that if someone is looking for some information regarding appendicitis, the result on top pages of Google is an article written by a person who is writing articles on plumbing and plastic toys. Would you recognize this piece of information as something you can trust on the subject?
This is a grim scenario and it is still not handled by Google well. Information on health and legal issues is very sensitive and critical and should be from an expert in the field. Although the Google authorities are claiming that they are taking steps to validate the medical information by a licensed practitioner, or verify the details of the author, who is writing on medial issues. But Internet is such a huge jungle and this is literally impossible that it can be implemented for all the sites and for the entire globe, until a proper system to screen out unauthorized content on critical and sensitive issues is taken.
According to Mark Britton of Avvo, a site that offers Q&A forums sessions where visitors ask medical or legal questions and get responses from certified doctors and lawyers: “We have three ratings that speak to the expertise of our contributors: The Avvo Rating, client/patient ratings and peer endorsements.” This information is attached to crawlers the software which indexes the web pages. Britton says Avvo was not really affected by Google’s Panda update.
