Last week Google introduced some improvements it made to its hangout feature in Google+, largely with a view of accessibility and sign language. Video quality was made better to enable it to see signing.
Now it is the turn of Google Docs and Google Calendar for more features concerning accessibility.
According to Google Accessibility engineers, this session too students are expected to use Google applications to write essays, projects and use it for quizzes, share information and interact with their classmates. Google is also working for blind community to make it easier for them to use the Internet.
It will involve introduction of more keyboard shortcuts and support for screen readers to be able to use many Google products. Google engineers have now reduced the instruction to a single button phenomenon. For example the blinds can type ‘c’ to create an event, ‘/’ to initiate a query search, and ‘+’ to add a calendar to your project.
