news was included in its Google News service in 2008. Initially local news could be searched through city name or zip code. At the moment local news are available in a box on the right side of the Google news homepage. To stand out from the crowd Google has started analyzing every word of the news to find out the areas the news belongs to, so that it can be streamlined and categorized according to the areas it relates to.

Now Google has announced that apart from the general news, local news would also be available on your mobile phone. But before you want to start the feature on your cell phone, it will ask to share your current location. So privacy concerns have to be sacrificed in order to avail local news. Local news on mobile would be available on the bottom of the homepage or at the “jump to” tab on the top right. You can also personalize it and reorganize the sections in it.
