According to McKinsey & Company’s recent report “The Impact of Internet Technologies: Search,” interesting facts came out. Analyzing the search pattern in 2010, it says there were at least 1,500 searches performed by an average user. The total volume of searches was a whopping 1.6 trillion globally. The number is just growing because of handheld devices such as tablets and smart phones are plugged to global searches.

If we try to estimate the gross annual value of searches internationally, the result would be equal to the GDP of a country like Netherlands or Turkey. So, according to that figure every search was worth $0.50, with total annual value of $780 billion in the year 2009. It did not take into account the monetary benefits to the user in terms of money and time saved; otherwise this figure could have been even higher. So the search habits simply have an incredible monetary worth.
