There is a huge confusion between Google+ the proposed social media of Google and Google’s newly introduced +1 button in the Google search fields. Most of the people confuse +1 button as something similar to Facebook’s “like” button which is publicly visible and can seen by anybody.


If you click an article which has a +1 button, it will not reflect on any social media especially Google+. It will just appear in your personal profile in a tab, so that is more to do with your own search trends that might help you in future searches.

However as the buzz around Google product integration is on, this may as well be a “visible” button in future just like the Facebook’s “like.” But as of now it is just serving the search savvy people who would like to bookmark their searches.
