Suspension of Google Realtime Linked to Expiration of Google Twitter Agreement

The ambitious Google Realtime program seems to be stalled with the expiry of agreement between twitter and Google; though the reason of shutting down Google Realtime is still not confirmed. Google Realtime was based upon using social media platforms especially Twitter. The idea was to provide real time social media updates into Google search results including Facebook’s fan pages and Twitter’s tweets. One more reason speculated to be behind the suspension of Realtime may be the launch of Google +. But suspending Realtime for Google+ is not that welcome by the users. They still want the service back.

However a Google representative clarified the Twitter agreement expiration and Realtime issue saying:

“Since October of 2009, we have had an agreement with Twitter to include their updates in our search results through a special feed, and that agreement expired on July 2. While we will not have access to this special feed from Twitter, information on Twitter that’s publicly available to our crawlers will still be searchable and discoverable on Google.”

Though the search trends do not confirm availability of any public or private data from Twitter that means something is wrong between the two giants; however Twitter is said to be open to the future agreements with Google.
