Seamless messaging with Facebook’s New Social Inbox

Facebook has put an end to all speculations doing the rounds that it is going to launch an Email service. Rather it has introduced a messaging system that aims to change the way people communicate and allows them to keep in constant touch with those who matter the most.

The idea behind this move is to facilitate the users to benefit from the combined features of an email and Facebook chat, instant messaging and SMS simultaneously. It is in no way a replacement of email, Facebook has clarified.

It has introduced the concept of “Social Inbox” which presents before the users the opportunity to integrate the messages, SMS, IM and Email from their friends at one place. It will filter the relevant messages and messages from people who are of less importance will be sent to a secondary folder.

The new service also offers the advantage of single conversation history. Now a user’s communication with another user, whether it is through Email, SMS, IM, etc will be stored at one place in chronological order which he/she can view at any time. Users can however delete their conversation histories.

Users of Facebook can now indulge in seamless messaging with all those they really care about through its new Social Inbox. Most importantly they can now have a @facebook.com address. So far one can feel only the benefits but the real implications will be known once it becomes functional.
