In a much recent development, Flickr, the photo sharing community has introduced OpenID service wherein users can now register with their current web accounts. In this regard Google is the first partner of Flickr which is owned by Yahoo. However, Flickr is looking forward to adding more such partners.
Earlier only Yahoo users can register with Flickr but this new feature will allow users to link their Google IDs with Flickr and create an account.
The introduction of this feature seems to be its endeavor to attract more users to join the community. Another aspect is that Yahoo wishes to maintain its position as the largest provider of OpenIDs.
Whatever may be the reason, it is definitely a useful feature that offers flexibility to users to be a part of Flicks without remembering another ID and its password.
