A huge debate is on whether Google+ would be able to endanger Facebook and take away its astronomical share of the market. It seems like Facebook has woken up to the threat and they are doing the most obvious and that is matching up the features that are the USPs of the search giant Google+.
To this end they have started features similar to Google circles for easy sharing; new friend list options and now they have started with Twitter like subscriptions things too. In these subscriptions you need not be a friend of someone to share things with him/her, you just need to click on “subscribe” button. It will give you access to his/her wall. In Twitter you can do it by following someone.
Facebook’s step of introducing subscription is understood as a measure to counter the similar challenge from Google+. It is also clear that Facebook is a little apprehensive about Google+, as Facebook discouraged the efforts of Google+ users to bring their Facebook contacts on to Google+. They also backfired by blocking Google+ user’s ad sometime back. Google+ has spend a lot of time and money to weave an equivalent of Facebook, but now the differences in the features of Facebook and Google+ are narrowing.
So, the next one year would be very interesting as we can see some tough battle between social media giant Facebook and search engine king Google. But surely the task of Google is now more difficult than before and it cannot ride the ladder of clientele as fast as it did in the initial months of its launch.
