Google Enables Multiple Accounts Sign-in

Providing advantage to the users, Google has now added another feature by allowing the users to sign in more than one Google Account on the same browser at the same time. Earlier a user need to sign out of one Account to log in to another Google Account or has to open the same in different browser. But with this Multiple Sign-in facility, users can check their several accounts simultaneously and conveniently.

The feature can be activated by visiting the Account Settings page and then going to Personal Settings where there is an option of “Multiple Sign-in” which if tuned to “Change” from “Off” will make the feature working. One enabled, a drop down menu appears with which users can log in to a maximum of three Google accounts. The first account that one signs in will be considered the Default Account and

Currently this new feature is functional with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sites, Google Reader, Google Voice, App Engine and Google Code. However it is not supported on mobile devices and Google Docs though Google says its working on it. It is welcome feature that Goggle has introduced now but which users were looking forward to for quite a long time.

Now it is to be seen how beneficial it proves to the users or there are still other things to be done.

Breadcrumb for Easy Navigation

Internet is filled with millions of websites each of which contains a large number of web pages. Breadcrumb navigation helps in keeping the track of the location within a program which saves the users from getting lost in this maze of pages and URLs.  In Breadcrumb navigation, a trail of links is displayed in front of the user. By following these links, a user can easily reach whatever web page he wants to visit.

Breadcrumb technique makes it easy of users to navigate within the website which leaves a positive impression on them and their reliance on the site owners increases manifold. This in turn helps in grabbing the attention of the prospective clients and ultimately benefits site owners. Especially in e-commerce websites where people search for a specific product name, breadcrumb navigation proves very useful. Breadcrumb navigation allows the users to see the product’s category as well as the other products similar to it. Sometimes, in these other similar products people finds the one that suits them better and buys it which they wouldn’t have done have if they had seen only the original product page.

Technically speaking, Breadcrumbs is just a set of links which are made using various technologies. One of the most popular technologies which now-a-days a large number of people are using in their site is html. HTML makes the higher layers pages more important by spreading the page rank from all over the site on them. This improves the internal linking structure of the site as well as the main site keywords.

Microsoft introduces Online Circular Ads for MSN Local

Microsoft Advertising has introduced interactive online circular ads for its MSN Local Edition in order to provide the local customers an easy way to shop.

With these Circular Ads, users can:

  • See location specific circular ads as the site is Geo-centric
  • Rotate the different circulars and browse the various Ads
  • Can search for the products across the circulars
  • Add items to a shopping list
  • Find retailer locations with Bing Maps,
  • Share offers with friends through Facebook, Twitter, and Windows  Live.

The data for the circulars is obtained from ShopLocal and the retailers need to update their information regularly on ShopLocal in order to make their circulars visible, otherwise the ads may not appear on the screen.

Numerous content types, One Sitemap

Since the launch of XML Sitemaps in 2005, Google has added several specialized formats with the aim to better accommodate the various types of content like video, images, mobile, code or geographic content. Until this time users had no option but to create different sitemaps for the various content types but now they can create and submit a single XML Sitemap for all of your content types.

The structure of the sitemap with multiple content types differs from the standard sitemap only in one respect i.e. it possesses capacity to contain URLs referring to varied content types. The process of the submission will also remain same. The only thing which has changed is that users can now add various types of content to one file because unlike the previous method, sitemaps will now come equipped with a capacity to handle URLs for different content types.
